Danny didn’t feel at home at home, but the pinball arcade and the strip club welcomed him.
It’s Portland, 2004, and with the fog of his mother’s unsolved murder years earlier still hanging over him, Danny joined N.A.
The motorcycle gang that ran this N.A. group got him a job as a first call responder for the city morgue, requiring him to regularly walk in on the worst day of a stranger’s life.
Based on a propulsive true story of becoming oneself, Danny B. is an impressionistic drift that pauses to zoom in on minute particulars.

Praise for Danny B.
“Isn’t it refreshing when a new novel is truly new and truly novel … it’s something like a Frankenstein of Gertrude Stein’s wit and Denis Johnson’s grit: sneaky funny then hilarious, packed ear-to-ear with nuanced minutiae rapidly adding up to more than the sum of its sentences.”
“Tim Kinsella’s Danny B. is vibrant and brisk even as it shows us Danny’s world: filled with violent ends, relapsing friends, and intense memories. It’s a book that reminds us everyday life and death might be preposterous, but there’s a deeper principle too, a heart that endures beyond all absurdity.”
“I asked Kinsella to tell my story. For we are similar, raised on the same Top 40, plastic toys, and credit card debt demise of the working-class, latchkey, free-lunch generation.”
